As the holidays approach we all have different traditions, favorite memories, and things we look forward to. We thought we would share our holiday plans with you guys…here’s what we’re most excited about this year. For me, the holiday season begins on Thanksgiving. My boyfriends Birthday is November 24th and then I begin to get ready to head to the East Coast for my Birthday, Christmas, and the New Year. In between all of this I’m holiday shopping, packing, blogging, and planning my trip to New York City. December is a hectic month for me, but it’s also my favorite time of the year. New
Every year once I’m finished with my holiday shopping I create my Christmas wish list to make it easier on my friends and family. I’m hard to shop for because I like specific labels and particular pieces. As I was working on A Girl in LA’s annual gift guides, I came across so many things I fell in love with. From clothing, to jewelry, to items for my apartment. These are the top 20 gifts I’m asking for this Christmas. Doheny Blouse Sanctuary $89 This reminds me of something Blair Waldorf would wear. Long gone are the days of the traditional red and green Christmas; they’ve been replaced with tons of pink and bright bold colors. When I’m searching for decorating ideas, Eloise and Barbie are some of my biggest influences. I also look for projects that won’t take a ton of time to create since December is such a chaotic month. There’s holiday shopping, packing and planning my annual trip to NYC and Massachusetts, and trying to get all this done before I leave. This means I don’t have a lot of time to decorate my apartment but I still want it to look trendy and festive.
The holidays are right around the corner but purchasing the perfect presents can be stressful and time consuming. No need to worry though, our Holiday 2018 Gift Guide features curated gifts with a variety of price points for everyone on your list (even those that are hard to shop for). Each week we will be posting our themed gift guides to give you suggestions on what to get your friends, family, girlfriend, or boyfriend this season! <3 A Girl in LA
My Thanksgiving usually consists of my boyfriend and I going out to dinner or ordering a ton of takeout and binge-watching Holiday movies. But since we’re not able to make it back to our home states like a lot of our friends, we’ll host a brunch the following weekend. It’s the ideal way to celebrate the start of the holiday season. Here is my Friendsgiving guide with tips, tricks, and party planning ideas on how to throw a memorable gathering. Set the Date and Time Ask your guests beforehand when it is the most convenient time to have your gathering. The best options would be
As a Type A person I thrive on organization and planning. I have never been able to do things spontaneously and that’s why I’m a big fan of goal planning. Whenever I think of something I’d like to achieve I’ll jot it down in my iPhone or in my planner. At the end of each month I’ll look over what I’ve written down and I’ll create a list of goals that I would like to achieve for the month ahead and when I want to accomplish them by. These are the goal planning tools I use: The SMART acronym: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.
I went from getting my nails done at the salon every two weeks to doing my manicure at home. I look forward to the “me time” I spend on Sunday afternoons doing my nails while binge-watching a favorite TV show. For inspiration I’ll watch Youtube tutorials on nail design and I follow nail technicians on Instagram. When I have extra time, I’ll apply nail decals, or do little designs. Depending on the time of the year, what I’m doing, or where I’m going, I have specific colors I use that correlate with the occasion. Here are my tried-and-true manicure steps, along with my go-to colors
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a business self-help book I was introduced to during my Business Management program while in school for fashion design. I was never thrilled to have to read for class, but I became hooked on this one. It’s written by Stephen Covey and became one of his best-sellers, selling over 25 million copies worldwide. After reading it, I became inspired, and I felt heavily influenced to align my goals and ambitions to these habits. The 7 Habits are as follows; Be Proactive, Being with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand,
This past weekend when my boyfriend and I were planning our date night, I suggested that we explore a haunted hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Usually when we go out on a Friday night, we meet up with friends for drinks, or we’ll head to a trendy eatery. Being so close to Halloween, I wanted to do something festive but also avoid the typical tourist attractions. We’ve been binge-watching The Haunting of Hill House (a must see), and that definitely inspired my idea. We also stopped by my favorite bookstore located inside an old bank vault. I’m not sure how I feel about “ghosts,” and
A few years ago I got into the crystal craze and started collecting beautiful minerals that are now displayed throughout my apartment. When I saw these cute air plants by Rock n Air I had to add them to my growing collection. Rock n Air plants are handmade in Los Angeles by its founder Kim Leake. You can order these babies on her Etsy shop where she sells an assortment of plants and crystals in different shapes and sizes. They’re all one-of-a-kind and very unique. Each plant includes free shipping and comes packaged in a white gift box, tied with a black grosgrain ribbon. You
