My Thanksgiving usually consists of my boyfriend and I going out to dinner or ordering a ton of takeout and binge-watching Holiday movies. But since we’re not able to make it back to our home states like a lot of our friends, we’ll host a brunch the following weekend. It’s the ideal way to celebrate the start of the holiday season. This past weekend when my boyfriend and I were planning our date night, I suggested that we explore a haunted hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Usually when we go out on a Friday night, we meet up with friends for drinks, or we’ll head to a trendy eatery. Being so close to Halloween, I wanted to do something festive but also avoid the typical tourist attractions. We’ve been binge-watching The Haunting of Hill House (a must see), and that definitely inspired my idea. We also stopped by my favorite bookstore located inside an old bank vault. I’m not sure how I feel about “ghosts,” and
Autumn is my favorite season and to celebrate I indulge in everything pumpkin spice. l buy the seasonal fall products I’ve come to love, while trying out some new just released ones. Then I’ll head to the craft store to pick up supplies and invite my girlfriends over for a “DIY party.” I’ll have potpourri simmering on the stove and serve apple cider and donuts. Nothing thrills me more than a change in season because it means going shopping for new clothing and accessories and changing up my wardrobe based on the upcoming trends. As we slowly approach our last days of summer, I have begun compiling a list of fashion pieces I must have this season. This year some fall fashion trends I’m looking forward to purchasing are an oversized puffer jacket, a pair of colorful faux fur heels, a square neckline dress, a pair of snakeskin pants, and some trendy metallic over-the-knee boots. I also can’t wait to add more leopard prints, statement pieces in the color mustard,
When summer nears its end and the sweltering days give way to cool and breezy evenings, I like to plan meals that I can enjoy outdoors. I was never good at cooking, I would attempt to make a dish from scratch, take one bite and then toss it in the trash. When I first moved to California and I lived alone I became the queen of takeout; after a long day it was much easier to order from one of my favorite restaurants on Postmates or UberEats than to destroy my kitchen cooking something that would end up down the drain. When my boyfriend and I moved in together, I wanted to give cooking another try. I wanted to be able to prepare healthy food options for us to enjoy together.
