Saturdays Are For Indulging in Sweet Treats at OMG Dessert Goals!

After my July 4th get-together where I overindulged on cupcakes and cookies, I had vowed to give up sweets for a little while…that was until I saw OMG Dessert Goals was coming to Los Angeles! I immediately purchased a ticket to the event held in DTLA and anticipated the sugar rush that was yet to come..

Omg Dessert Goals is a weekend long festival that started in New York City and has expanded to Los Angeles. Here you can sample the delicious treats by California bakeries and vendors. Before you bite into your snack, there are plenty of photo setups so you can get that perfect #OMGDessertGoals Instagram picture as you pose with your newly discovered confection.

What I loved about this event was that it wasn’t over-crowded. $15 dollar tickets were sold for specific time slots so the lines weren’t to long. Each time slot was given 1 hour and 45 minutes to go in an explore the curated dessert vendors in this interactive space. The festival was held inside the event space at the historic Cooper Building. In the past I had worked at a fashion showroom on the 5th floor so it was exciting returning to my old workplace. Upon entering guests, were given a map of the vendors and a wristband with 4 tabs on it. Each tab represented a free treat–frozen, salty, sweet, and liquid.

Before heading there I had gone on the website to read about each vendor so that I knew exactly what I wanted to try. My friend Audrey and I arrived during the 3:45 pm time slot ready for photos and sugar. It was during the LA heat wave, so it was refreshing to know we’d be able to indulge in some frozen treats. When we first walked in I saw a stand with cute accessories so I bought a pin, a donut patch, and a postcard.

Organic Seedling Lollipops

Our first stop was Amborella Organics. These amazing lollipops don’t go to waste once you’re done sucking on the sugarcane and herbs. You can actually plant the biodegradable sticks that has seedlings inside of them and a herb or flower will bloom. How awesome is that? I bought the Sage and Marshmallow, and the Champagne and Roses. Both were exquisite (I will definitely be buying more) and I can’t wait see these plants grow!

Kawaii Inspired Macarons

Before I went, I asked my boyfriend if he wanted anything and he said some macarons, so we headed to Honey & Butter. Because of the high demand, there was a limited selection but I was able to score a pink pig and a few pink lemonade flavors. What stood out was the intricate designs inspired by Kawaii. I ate mine once I got home and immediately regretted not buying more.

An Upgrade to the Classic S’mores

S’mores are one of my weaknesses, so as you can imagine, when I saw an upgraded S’more treat I knew it was something I needed to try. We stopped by Gotta Have S’more where the name fit perfectly. There were so many variations to choose from, and after going back and forth I decided on the milk chocolate version; chocolate dipped in a graham cracker crust and topped with a toasted marshmallow. This made me seriously think about how I will eat s’mores in the future. Luckily this company ships nationwide.

Pudding with a Twist

Another vendor on my “to eat list” was The Pudding Truck. I honestly hadn’t  had pudding since I was a child, but after reading about this place and seeing the photos, it made me crave some. They offered two flavors, Chocolate and Southern-Style Banana Pudding. I choose the later, and it was mouth-watering. The base was vanilla-bean pudding, mixed with bananas and homemade brown butter vanilla wafers, and then topped with delicious whipped cream that wasn’t too sweet. The Pudding Truck’s calendar on their website lets you know where they are  headed so you can try these amazing sweets! PS: The truck offers even more flavors like Butterscotch, Vanilla Bean, Red Velvet, and seasonal flavors.

What I Wore

Even though the event was a stars + moon celestial theme, I wanted to wear something vibrant that would coordinate with all these colorful desserts. I went to my clothing rack and pulled a silk tie-dye dress. As for the handbag, I had never actually used it but bought it to hang on my clothing rack as a decoration. When I saw it next to the dress I thought there isn’t a more perfect purse to use since it had glitter, dessert, and unicorn patches. When it came to choosing shoes and accessories, I wanted to keep them to a minimum since the rest of my outfit was so colorful. I decided on a pair of solid white slides, and I wore my signature jewelry; small gold sparkle hoop earrings, a few small gold rings, and a few bracelets.

After we tried all these incredible desserts, we used the rest of our time to take photos of the displays and pose with the props in the designated photo areas. It was the ideal summer afternoon and we will for sure be back next year! Here’s a look at the rest of our photos.
