Fourth of July get-together

Last week my boyfriend and I decided to have a Fourth of July get-together at our apartment in Downtown Los Angeles. The idea was to invite our friends over for an evening gathering with food, drinks, music, and of course fireworks! Setting the Summer Vibe  I wanted to set up a pretty holiday display so I considered my centerpiece options. I decided on a white ceramic pineapple cookie jar that goes great with my kitchen table and a silver placement that resembled nautical rope, but with an elegant twist. I added seashells around the centerpiece to carry out the summer vibe. Pineapple cookie jar: Amazon |Read More →

January…the month when you’re torn between hibernating and keeping your New Year’s Resolutions (gym goals, volunteer, learn something new, take up yoga, wake up earlier, etc.) When half of the United States has temperatures 30 degrees and below, here are some things to get you through, and help you stay on track to make 2017 your best year yet. Bella Freud Parfum Candle, $70. In the cold months of January a lot of New Yorkers long for a vacation to somewhere sunny, I on the other hand love New York in the blistering cold (maybe because I don’t actually live there).     Growing up on the east coast and spending every Christmas there, I couldn’t imagine being in a warm climate for the holidays. I need a few perfect 25-degree days with lots of snow. (Then I hurry on back to Los Angeles, and hope the winter here (aka rain) is short.) I do spend the first part of December in LA, and I started celebrating as soon as finished my Thanksgiving dinner. December flies by and before you know it, we’re thinking about all the food we ate, and alcoholic beverages we consumed come January 1st, so lets try to fit in as muchRead More →

I think it all started with my love for the movie Marie Antoinette. The scene where she’s eating all the desserts, made me want cake, éclairs and macaroons ASAP. I had heard of Bottega Louie, and one day I was walking out of the apartment I had just moved into, and saw it was a few blocks down the street and decided to walk in. OMG…I became obsessed! It takes a lot of self-control to not walk in every time I pass by and order one of their desserts or buy a box of macaroons. Last year I bought my sister and my mom aRead More →

Growing up on the east coast, fall has always been one of my favorite seasons. The leaves turning, the nights starting to get cooler, sitting by the fireplace, knowing that Christmas is around the corner… Fall in Los Angeles, is quite different. As I type, it’s currently 76 degrees outside. I still try to take what I love about fall and make new traditions. Here’s a mix of things I adopted back in Massachusetts (like, cold nights binging on Netflix and football games), along with new things (farmers markets, Urth Caffe pumpkin pie, and new recipes). 1.
