2017 New Year’s Resolution Ideas

Here’s a list of ideas to help you stay on track for 2017. Some good tips to follow are don’t make to many and be specific, make ones that you really want to keep, set smaller goals and work up, and write them down and document your progress. 

  • Read for fun.
  • Respond to emails quicker.
  • Have a “date night” at least once a week.
  • Clean out your closet, cabinets, drawers, desk, under the bed. Donate or toss what you haven’t used in the last year.
  • Take up yoga.
  • Plan to visit family more often.
  • Start a new DIY project.
  • Go on airplane mode for a full day, at least once a month.
  • Book a spa appointment, or create a spa at home.
  • Go to the movies and concerts more often.
  • Turn off Netflix by 11pm on week nights.
  • Volunteer.
  • Plan your meals on Monday and cook at home 6 days a week, allow for takeout or going out to eat one night a week.
  • Start a new hobby.
  • Have more family fun nights.
  • Plan at least one weekend day trip or overnight trip, once a month.
  • Meditate.
  • Stop using social media as your diary. Buy one or if you need to talk to someone, call a friend.
  • Use the stairs over the elevator more often, and park further away from the entrance.
  • Stop drinking soda–start drinking more water, coconut water, aloe, chia and pressed juice.
  • Stop procrastinating and tackle the task as it arrives.
  • Incorporate SPF into your skincare routine.
  • Reconnect with an old friend.
  • Take a class.
  • Stop eating fast food.
  • Go for a daily walk.
  • Take a cooking class.
  • Make a commitment to go to the gym a few days a week.
  • Take fewer selfies.
  • Get more sleep.
  • Spend less time on social media, spend more time doing things that will better you.
  • Try to stay in the present, and stop worrying about yesterday and tomorrow.
  • Take in the scenery.
  • Get up an hour earlier and have “me time.”
  • Call more, text less.
  • Start a savings account or IRA.
  • If you don’t like your current job, make a kick ass resume and start applying for new ones.
  • Make more of an effort to spend time with friends.
  • Get out of debt.
  • Run a few miles every week.
  • Learn a new language for free.
  • Walk more, take fewer cabs and trains…even in the cold or rain.
  • Smile at at least one person everyday.
  • Stop judging people.
  • Practice daily affirmations.
  • Stop or cut back on drinking.
  • Cook dinner for a friends night in.
  • Learn how to say “no” when something doesn’t feel right, or when you’re too busy.
  • Learn how to say “yes” to things that may scare you. Step out of your comfort zone.
  • Instead of reaching for your phone to capture the moment, enjoy it by just being there.
